ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is actually a neurobiological condition. Symptoms of ADHD can include things like distractibility, restlessness, impulsivity, and even memory issues amongst many other things.

Many people struggle with these types of behaviors at one time or another, but for those dealing with ADHD, these issues can be both overwhelming and debilitating.

Those with ADHD or hyperactivity may feel the need to constantly move or change their focus of attention.....quite often. This overwhelming desire for physical action can lead to feelings of restlessness, which can be very intrusive.

If you’re one of those people who continually feel restless or agitated, cannot multi-task, or have an addictive personality, you’re certainly not alone. The fact is that over 50% of adults with ADHD also suffer from some kind of anxiety disorder. ADHD can cause you to have excessive energy and even difficulty focusing, however, this can be addressed using your subconscious mind. You can learn how to control and fight this life altering issue and it is possible to live your life in a healthier fashion.

It's quite normal to feel restless or agitated every once in a while, but if you feel restless and agitated most of the time, you may need to stop and consider some alternative therapies to deal with the problem.

A practice like mindfulness can go a long way to helping you feel more calm and relaxed. Mind-body therapies like mindfulness, hypnosis, and meditation can help you calm the "monkey mind" many of us experience throughout our day.

Some common causes of agitation or restlessness, other than ADHD, can include things like:

  • Stress from work
  • Stress from personal relationships
  • Grief
  • Illness or disease
  • Peer pressure
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Mental illness like bipolar disorder
  • Many other things

Using hypnosis or meditation is a great way to work on your feelings of restlessness from the inside out, and the great thing about mind-body therapies is the fact that there are no harmful side-effects.

Using the subconscious mind, you can take back that control and gain back that inner strength so that you can feel calm and relaxed throughout your day. Research has shown that those who use positive words like affirmations can actually help themselves heal in more ways than one.

One of the best things you can do, if you continually feel aggravated or stressed, is to take yourself to that calm and serene part of the mind that can help you heal. Using hypnosis or meditation, you can close your eyes, and calm your mind and visit someplace like a beautiful beach, where you can let all of your cares and concerns go.

There is nothing more calming and relaxing than learning how to turn your mind off, even if you only do so for a few minutes a day.
